WELCOME TO PLATEWIRE
About drivers, by drivers, for drivers
HELP FOR THE FIRST-TIMER
PlateWire is divided into two main sections: WIRES and BLOGS.
Before you can actively participate in either section, you must register as a user
here. It’s free (although donations are accepted), and anonymous.
So, let’s look at the registration:
On the top of the page is a blue menu bar, like this: (NOTE:
Links and Buttons on this HELP page do not work, they are only examples)
At the far right edge is a link button to REGISTER. Clicking on this will bring
up the registration page. You can register as a MOTORIST, PEDESTRIAN or CYCLIST
(read below the registration choices for a description of each). Most of you will
want to choose pedestrian. After choosing. Click on the red button for register:
Like most other boards, you will choose a USERNAME that you wish to be known by,
like :IAMADRIVER, then choose a password to use when you log on, following the directions
on the page. Finally, give us a question to ask, for security, should you lose or
forget your password. It should be a question that only you would know the answer
to, and then, input the answer for our database. You will then be asked for a valid
email address, so that you can be sent a validation code.
Upon receiving your validation message and code, you will see a link to click on,
which will send you to the verification page, where you will see the following message:
Your email has been verified
successfully! You may now login.
You’re on the way! Next stop,
BLOGS.
You must be logged in to write,
or respond, to a blog. Notice that the menu bar has changed in the center section:
By clicking on WRITE BLOG you
can create one of your own, but first, we suggest reading other “USERBLOGS” to see
the basic flow and style of them. Blogs are NOT to be used for “WIRES”, but instead,
they should be used for commentary on driving issues. Please keep the basic opening
blog simple and short. You can expand on it in the COMMENTS section. Long, wordy
opening blogs take up space, and push other blogs down, and eventually off, of the
page. Profanity is not permitted, but it does occasionally get through. We will
edit the words when we find them, but try to keep it somewhat civil.
If you have a license plate number,
or description of the vehicle, along with time and location, you can FILE WIRE that
plate. Clicking on this section will bring up a choice of States, Plate Styles,
Text colors, and a description of what happened. Again, although the site was designed
to allow you to vent your rage here, instead of on the road, a little civility is
called for, since we have no idea of the age, gender, race, ethnicity, or religion
of those who may be reading these wires. Anger is never an excuse for mannerly social
conduct.
Enjoy the site, Use the site,
and let us know how we are doing. We like hearing from the members.
