Right Hook on Milwaukee Ave.
4:47 p.m., northbound Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, north of Central Park. A biker was traveling northwest with traffic when he was brutally right-hooked by a van, turning into a driveway at a mattress store that the residents of the 'hood have been trying to shut down for years because it is an eyesore. The license plate is K56 1966. I got off my bike and asked the dude if he was OK and if his bike was OK. He was OK. He did not see any turn signal on K56 1966, and neither did I from where I was traveling. The owner of K56 1966 is also the owner of the eyesore (which is not especially relevant, except that I know the story behind it, and that the guy has been arrogant to the neighbors, just a little insightful tidbit). He was defensive to the biker and gave the impression that he didn't care if he had been injured. It was all about saving his entitled arse.
